Holiday Blogging - Summer Learning Journey Bonus Activity

Bonus Activity
According to numerous researchers and fitness experts, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. They argue that people who eat breakfast will have more energy, be in a better mood, be able to think more clearly, do better at school and end up healthier than people who don’t eat breakfast.
Interestingly, not everyone agrees. In fact, some people believe that breakfast is not the most important meal of the day because people often eat too much food at breakfast time, gain weight and become unhealthy. They think that it is better to skip breakfast and eat a number of small meals later in the day.

After reading the arguments presented above, what do you think? Is breakfast the most important meal of the day? Why or why not?

My Respond:
For me I think that I agree with both opinions. I don't really have breakfast in the morning that much but I still go for both. Why I go for breakfast being a good thing is because sometimes it does give you energy, and sometime helps you a lot and give you strength. I've also heard about other peoples opinions saying breakfast is really good and that it stands for break the fast. So that's one opinion. The other is sometimes what people have for breakfast is bacon which is fat from a pig, and also toast with just butter and butter is also fat. So that's the other opinion I think that's really why other people do not like breakfast! That's all about now.

Activity 1
Compare the picture of common breakfast foods in the country you’ve chosen with what you typically eat for breakfast here in New Zealand. I usually have a bowl of sultana bran cereal with trim milk and a cup of tea. What about you? On your blog, please tell us:

  1. What you eat for breakfast? I the morning what eat for breakfast is egg and toast with some milo.
  2. What people in your chosen country eat for breakfast? Australians eat toast and marmite.

3. Which of the two breakfast options (your breakfast or the breakfast in the other country) you prefer. Why do you prefer it? Out of Australian breakfast and what I eat for breakfast it has to be my breakfast. Because I'm not really a fan of marmite on toast. It's just really not my thing.

Activity 2

Some of the most famous foods to come out of New Zealand include kiwifruit, lamb, whitebait, oysters, tuatua (shellfish), kumara, bacon and egg pie, hokey pokey ice cream, lolly cake, anzac biscuits and pavlova. Take a picture of you (or someone you know!) eating one of these famous ‘kiwi’ foods. Post the picture to your blog. Underneath the picture tell us what they are eating.

Here is a photo of me eating kiwi fruit. In the activity I was suppose to eat it in real life. But the thing was I had none of the food that I was suppose to take a picture of me eating. So instead I took a photo of me without any kiwi fruit just a clean photo, and after that I look up online for a kiwi fruit photo (Image attribution). Then paste it on top of my hand eating it. Hope you don't mind Rachel!

Once you have read these phrases you will be ready to leave the airport and head to your hotel. Take a moment and imagine how you might feel if you were standing in the airport in a foreign country and you had to figure out how to communicate with people in a brand new language. Would you be scared? Would you feel confident? Write a short poem that describes how you might be feeling (i.e. excited, happy, scared, nervous, etc).
Poem of how I would feel:

I'm out of the plane feeling nervous what should I do should I play some tunes. Oh please what do I do I. I need to loo no I was just kidding wait do I do I actually do. Wait lets go to the hotel where it might be fun. I start to feel to feel confident, but it's going down. Arrive at the hotel don't know what to eat. I think I should eat marmite, and toast with some yummy tea. My braveness is going up let's to have fun.  Now let's go and explore the Harbor bridge done!

Activity 2
Take a selfie that captures how you might be feeling. I think that I would most likely be feeling scared.

Here is a picture of how I might be feeling. I would most likely be scared/confused:

Holiday Blogging - Summer Learning Journey Bonus Activity ( Late post )

Bonus Activity

Sorry everyone I've been out of schedule at the moment, and I'm not really blogging. But here is the bonus activity for day 5. I'll promise there will be more coming!

It’s time to use your imagination to write a short story. I’ve provided you with three different beginnings for a story. Choose your favorite beginning and finish the story. What happens next? You can use your imagination and create any ending that you want. To earn full points, you must post, at least 8-10 sentences, on your blog.

  1. I looked around the room. Nothing seemed unusual, but then…

  1. I knew it was going to be an unusual day when my mom came into my bedroom and said...

  1. The spaceship was out of control and only one person could save us....

I chose:
  1. I looked around the room. Nothing seemed unusual, but then…
Story:

I looked around the room. Nothing seemed unusual, but then my mum popped out of no where with excitement. My mum said,"Guess what were going Australia and I packed but your not!". "This is just one of your jokes mum right?", I say. "Then why do I have 2 tickets Australia", mum reply's. But I just stood there with nothing to say solid for 20 sec. Then without talking I ran to my room and got a full suitcase with ready to go to the airport. "I'm ready", I say enthusiastically. But my mum was so wowed about how fast I got a full suitcase. After that we headed to the Auckland airport scanned our bags and got ready to go. As we were going on the plane it was a long line until we go there, and as we got there I ran to my seat. "We are ready to fly so sit back relax and enjoy", says the flight attendant. As I was having a good time the man in front of me who started snoring out loud. It was so annoying. The flight attendant came and was going to say something but I cut her of, and said, "I would like another seat desperately". "Coming right up", the flight attendant says. So I got to move to another seat and not long after the man beside me was snoring, and it was even louder. "Not again", I whisper. Then a flight attendant walks past me but then I grab her hand then I say again desperately, "I would like another seat desperately". "This is the last time your moving", she says. So then I moved and the next thing I knew everyone was snoring. "Our flight has ended", says the flight attendant. This is the worst flight ever!

Holiday Blogging - Summer Learning Journey W1 D5 A1/2

Day 5 – Boarding the Plane
It’s the big day! You’re about to hop on an airplane and travel to a new country. Curious Kiwi will keep you company on the journey. Unfortunately, Curious Kiwi forgot his book and he is worried that he’ll get bored on the long flight without anything to read. He asks you for some help…
C:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\Children's book image II.jpgC:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\Children's book image.jpgC:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\Children's book image III.jpg
Activity 1

Think about all of the books that you have read this year and recommend one for Curious Kiwi to read. On your blog list the title and author of the book and then provide a short description of it. What is the book about?
Image result for the wonderful wizard of ozMy book of choice The wonderful wizard of oz:
Out of all the books I've read I recommend Curious Kiwi to read which some of you already know The wonderful wizard of oz. The wonderful wizard of oz is about a young girl name Dorothy who some how ended up in the magical land of oz because of a terrifying cyclone. But can a wizard help her get back home. The author of this book is L. Frank Baum. You can also listen to this book in audio on youtube. Here is a link to the audio LINK. You can listen to every single chapter of The wonderful wizard of oz.

Activity 2
Read the following three reviews of books that are really popular right now in Canada. If you had to choose one for Curious Kiwi to read on the plane, which one would you choose? Post the name of the book that you would chose on your blog. Below the title explain why you would choose that book.

Book 1: Catching Fire (The Hunger Games #2) by Suzanne Collins
C:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\Catching Fire book cover image.jpgAgainst all odds, Katniss has won the Hunger Games. She and fellow District 12 tribute Peeta Mellark are miraculously still alive. Katniss should be relieved, happy even. After all, she has returned to her family and her longtime friend, Gale. Yet nothing is the way Katniss wishes it to be. Gale holds her at an icy distance. Peeta has turned his back on her completely. And there are whispers of a rebellion against the Capitol - a rebellion that Katniss and Peeta may have helped create. Much to her shock, Katniss has fueled an unrest she's afraid she cannot stop. And what scares her even more is that she's not entirely convinced she should try. As time draws near for Katniss and Peeta to visit the districts on the Capitol's cruel Victory Tour, the stakes are higher than ever. If they can't prove, without a shadow of a doubt, that they are lost in their love for each other, the consequences will be horrifying.
C:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\Matilda book cover.jpgBook 2: Matilda by Roald Dahl
Matilda is a sweet, exceptional young girl, but her parents think she's just a nuisance. She expects school to be different but there she has to face Miss Trunchbull, a kid-hating terror of a headmistress. When Matilda is attacked by the Trunchbull she suddenly discovers she has a remarkable power with which to fight back. It'll take a superhuman genius to give Miss Trunchbull what she deserves and Matilda may be just the one to do it!
The Book that I chose was Book 2: Matilda by Roald Dahl. Roald Dahl is one of my favorite authors. I chose this book because it kind of has a message to it, and that you can learn something about it. I think this message is like no matter what you do and how people treat you keep working hard. But the funny thing is I already watched the movie but I have not read the book. I recommend Curious Kiwi to read this book on the flight

C:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\DoaWK image.jpgBook 3: Diary of a Wimpy Kid – The Ugly Truth Greg Heffley has always been in a hurry to grow up. But is getting older really all it’s cracked up to be? Greg suddenly finds himself dealing with the pressures of boy-girl parties, increased responsibilities, and even the awkward changes that come with getting older—all without his best friend, Rowley, at his side. Can Greg make it through on his own? Or will he have to face the “ugly truth.”
